Our exceptional new Darya rugs have been designed by Birdie and her team in Norfolk and made by artisan weavers in the Faryab Province of Northern Afghanistan. These wool rugs have a unique and incredibly soft texture that is achieved using a traditional knotting technique known as a Turkoman Baft or knot. There are between 75,000 and 90,000 hand tied knots in each square meter of these exceptional floor coverings. The ‘Gabbeh’ design is achieved using natural dyes to create playful, abstracted patterns that are softened by the thick pile texture.
